August Edition of The Society of the Spoken Word


Tuesday August 28, 2012 marks the date for this month’s gathering of The Society of the Spoken Word. Taking place from 9pm until 11pm in downtown Barrie at The Second Cup, this month’s event features the illustrious Adam Sol. Adam Sol is a Trillium Book Award for Poetry winner and a Professor of Literature in Barrie, Ontario. More info on Adam Sol:

Adam Sol was born in New York and raised in Connecticut. He received his B.A. in English from Tufts University and his M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Indiana University. In addition to his poetry, Sol has published literary criticism, book and music reviews, and biographies for scholarly reference publications. In 2001, Sol was awarded a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to finish his second book of poems, Half As Good As Music. Meanwhile, he finished his Ph.D. at the University of Cincinnati and began teaching part time at York University and the University of Toronto-Scarborough Campus. He lives with his wife, Rabbi Yael Splansky, and their son, in Toronto, Ontario. Source
