Society of the Spoken Word Event – Tuesday September 25, 2012

September’s SotSW event takes place at The Second Cup, located on Dunlop Street in downtown Barrie from 9pm ’til 11pm. This month’s event will showcase two guest readers: Jessica Bebenek and Robert Colman.

Some bio info on Jessica from the Facebook event page:

Jessica is an award-winning poet and playwright living in Toronto. She is currently completing her final year in the Creative Writing program at York University.

Jessica has featured at readings around Toronto, has been an intern writer for Uncharted Sounds Magazine, and is now a Contributing Editor for The Flying Walrus Magazine.
She is currently working on a creative undergraduate thesis in which she is rewriting fairy tales using only the original words in which they were written. This past spring, she published her first chapbook, I, Family.

She really, really loves poetry.

Bio info on Robert Colman from Quattro Books:
Robert Colman is a writer and editor based in Newmarket, Ontario, whose work has been published in literary magazines across Canada. His first full-length collection of poems, The Delicate Line (Exile Editions, 2008), was nominated for the ReLit Award.
This Society of the Spoken Word event looks like it will be one to remember. I hope to see some Barrie Writers’ Club members there.
