It’s less than one week until our November branch meeting featuring Craig Pyette, senior editor at Random House/Penguin Canada.
He will be talking about the only rule that matters when it comes to getting published.  There will also be a question period which means you get the opportunity to pick the brain of an editor, not something that happens very often so don’t miss it!

William Bell Speaking to Orillia Area Writers

The Canadian Authors Association-Leacock Simcoe presents the fourth speaker in our series for local writers, William Bell, on Thursday February 28 at 6:30 pm at the Brewery Bay event room.  William Bell is a very well known local author who has published over a dozen books in young adult fiction as well as essays on other topics.  Bell will speak on finding success with your writing, and how to connect with your readers.

Bell is a frequent workshop presenter and speaker, with lots of expertise in writing and the writer’s craft.  This will be an engaging and informative evening with topical information for all writers, from those just starting out to the more experienced.  There will be networking time before and after the speaker, as well as an opportunity to ask questions.

Admission is free to CAA members, or those who have attended three or fewer of our speaker’s evenings.  A membership to the CAA-Leacock Simcoe is only $150 plus tax for the year, student rate only $50 plus tax, and includes free admission to all speaker evenings for the year, as well as reduced rates to our writers’ workshops.  Please speak to one of our committee members at the event for more information.

William Bell will be at the Brewery Bay event room at 121 Mississaga Street East speaking from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.  Doors open at 5:30 pm to enable attendees to order dinner before the speaker begins. Contact the CAA at 705-719-3926 or email admin@canauthors.org to reserve your seat.
